Observation Deck, Jordan Lake, Apex, NC 27523

Students were assigned to create a new observation deck at Jordan Lake for the New Hope Audubon Society. This project consists of two towers, one private and one public, connected by a circulation tower. Tall, narrow structures were chosen to resemble the surrounding pine trees and allow for people to experience all levels of the forest - not only the lake. The proportions of the towers allowed for birdwatching and for birds' safety. Focusing on the visual appearance of the two towers in conjunction with one another and reconsidering the integration of the circulation tower would strengthen this project's success.
